BYSC will not sponsor an Academy Program for the Fall 2008.
Please consider the new
Pre-Travel Program. Details are found on the online
registration site.
The BYSC Pre-Travel Program was established in the Fall 2007
Season. The chief purpose of the Pre-Travel Program is to offer a unique training opportunity and competitive format for those young boys and girls interested in the Travel Soccer Program.
Training will be provided by pre-selected professional licensed trainers under the supervision of
Paul Morant. Training methods and techniques will be similar that of BYSC travel teams. Two training sessions will be conducted each week - one weekday afternoon and one Saturday. Competitive games will be coordinated and scheduled with BYSC
and other local age appropriate travel teams. Parents of Pre-Travel
players will be offered an opportunity to volunteer as assistants to the
trainers. While high quality training is the main focus of the
Pre-Travel Program there are numerous related features of the travel program that will be addressed:
- Try-outs for future boys and girls U-8 and U-9 teams will be coordinated through the
Pre-Travel Program. Player selections for Travel Teams will be made by the Travel Committee at the end of the Fall and Spring sessions.
- Travel Team coaches and Assistant Coaches will be selected by the Travel
Committee based upon their participation and commitment demonstrated in the
Program.
- The Pre-Travel Program is becoming the pre-requisite to the Travel Program.
This Fall we will have 2nd Grade Girls and Boys that will participate in the 2nd
Grade Pre-Travel Program. The players that are deemed 'Travel Ready' will
'most likely' participate in the Travel Program in the Spring. Those same
players will be eligible to play in the U-9 Fall '09 Travel Program due to the
fact that they have been deemed 'Travel Ready' and have proven themselves to the
Coaches.
Essentially - subject to a display of extraordinary skill and knowledge of the
game and rules - the players that did not participate in the Pre-Travel Program
will need to spend at least one season in Pre-Travel.
