West Patent Rd. I have never played soccer but my child is playing - do I need experience to coach? No! - it doesn't hurt but, you need not have played soccer to coach - the only requirement is patience and a willingness to have fun. BYSC welcomes any willing parent to volunteer as a coach, assistant coach, age group coordinator or any other position within the organization. Please contact us if you are ready to help! It's raining/sleeting/snowing - how do I find out if soccer is happening? We keep the Important Messages link of this site current with up to date information on whether we are playing. Please check back often and be sure to refresh the page (Shift-Reload in most internet browsers). I registered my child for the Fall - do I need to register for the Spring too? Yes. The new Registration Format covers only the Fall Session - for both In-House and In-House Plus. Registration for the Spring Session commences on January 1st. I just moved to the area and want to sign my child up for soccer - can I join up mid-season? BYSC is an organization that depends on the help and contributions of many volunteers - we may not be able to put your child on a team mid-season due to the availability of teams or coaches or fields. We will make every possible effort to accommodate everyone, but be advised that you may have to wait until the beginning of the next season. I missed registration - can my child still play? Should I just show up with the uniform and be ready to play? As indicated in the previous answer, we may not be able to handle registrations that occur after the registration period. Please do not show up at the field with your child dressed and ready to play if you have not received confirmation from the Age Group Coordinator or BYSC official that your registration has been processed. BYSC is subject to liability issues and we cannot allow a child who does not have a signed health waiver form on file to play. ------------------------------------------------The BYSC In-House Plus What is the cost of the In-House Plus Program? The cost of the In-House Plus is $65.00 per participant per session ($65.00 for Fall Season / $65.00 for Spring Season). The fee covers the costs of the professional trainers and other typical related equipment / training expenses. Participants in the Plus Program MUST be registered in the In-House Program. What is the PLUS PROGRAM providing that the In-House program does not? The In-House Program provides an excellent opportunity for both children and parents to learn the fundamentals of the game of soccer. A Mid-week Training Session has been developed to offer additional training time with a Professional Trainer. This session will focus on the development of basic soccer skills and game awareness - positioning, plays etc. The level of training, commitment and competitiveness in the Travel Program is much more intense. In-House Plus is expected to bridge the gap and provide for a smooth transition between the two programs. Moreover, participation in In-House Plus will enable the participants to more fully understand the commitment required of the Travel Program - time (both player and family), monetary and physical conditioning. Do you need to be in the Pre-Travel Program to try-out for a Travel Team? No. There will always be the exceptional player that has the talent to move directly from the In-House Program to the Travel Program. However, the Pre-Travel Program has been established to more fairly judge a child's readiness to play at the Travel level. Instead of two - 1 ½ hour evaluations / try-out sessions that were conducted each Spring - the Committee will have the entire Fall or Spring Sessions (8 weeks or more) to determine a players readiness, attitude and commitment to the Program. Do you have to be selected to get into Pre-Travel Program? Any boy or girl currently registered with the Bedford Youth Soccer Club and in the Second or Third Grades is eligible to participate in the Pre-Travel Program. Switching from the In-House to the Pre-Travel Program is permitted - with the payment of the appropriate fees. Can I coach my son or daughter? Professional Trainers have been selected to train and coach the In-House Plus participants during the Mid-week Session. Parents are encouraged to participate and assist the Trainers during the Saturday In-House Program. Future Travel Coaches and Assistant Coaches will be selected from the pool of parents that participate in the Program. Travel Coach selections will be made by the Travel Committee with input from the Training Staff. Coach selections will be made based upon the participants' attendance, attitude, knowledge of the game, including but not limited to, dedication to the sport and the Program.
